I'm new to titletrader, but some suggestions or possibly this maybe stuff titletrader is working on already.
1.) Adding pictures to custom or other categories would be helpful. We as traders, wouldn't even have to use the titletrader site to hold the photos as I find myself using photobucket, imageshack and other sites to refer traders to view images. But a thumbnail of some sort would prove useful.
2.) My inventory link is http://www.titletrader.com/profile.php?userid=1720&show=inventory I think it would be great if we can break up the categories within the sellers inventory list, instead of scrolling thru tons of pages and possibly finding nothing. Possibly have a category list for within a sellers inventory list to click directly, for example dvd, vhs, and so on.
3.) Pay for postage, instead of just printing labels out and taking it to the post office to wait in line or pull out the stamps to match up the exact postage amount. For example paypal, uses pitney bowes to pay for postage and print labels.
4.) Point Value System. I notice that some category items only go up to a total of 3 points as a norm or standard on titletrader. I personally would like to post items that are in my opinion worth more than 3 points. For example I have a HUGE toy collection, and in my opinion, I think some of my toys are worth a minimum of 5 points up to 30 points, based on a $1 per point evaluation.
These are just suggestions or ideas. I know I may be way off base for some people, or its possibly that everyone else might agree.
Anyways, any new ideas just feel free to keep adding to this post. Thanks for everyones interest.
Welcome to the forums and TT. Your suggestions are great. I love the "prepaid" postage one.
Dan, you could make some money here, man. I would gladly pay 0.25 per shipment for the privilege of prepaid postage. Or you could go 0.10 to make it more popular. I don't know if there is a size limit for dropping stuff in mailboxes (by this, I mean, I think any package over a certain weight that is stamped must go to a post office, not a box. Maybe with a prepaid label there is no limit, but people would have to be warned if there is).
The searching and picture ideas are great.
The point value system, other people favor your suggestion. I like it the way it is, because I like the prices being on the low side. If you have something special, there are ways of getting more points for it if you take a little trouble. And that's how I like it, because it means that people will usually offer at the low price.
Points are not worth $1, though, so you will have to adjust your thinking about pricing. You can buy points from the site for $5 each, but these are deliberately overpriced. You can often buy points from other users from $2.50-3.00, so that is probably an accurate value. So a $30 item is worth more like 10 points.
Be warned, though. New features come at unpredictable intervals. A month or two ago, we went thru a spell of many changes. Since then it has been quiet. And on top of that, people are always clamoring for new stuff, as if Dan has a white beard and a red suit, if you know what I mean. But unfortunately, Dan has no elves, so he can't give gifts to all the children in Christendom in one night. We must be patient.
1-I plan on adding the uploading of pictures sometime.
2-Good suggestion
3-I wish we could. GIP: I've been through it many times. I've only been able to find one company that would allow us to create paid labels, but they charge like $.20 per label, with a min of something like 1000 labels. This means it would likely cost us money. I wish we could do it, I've contacted the USPS to find a way to do it and they point me to that company.
4-Point values are based off amazon.com's prices. If you're adding a custom item the max you can do is 3 points. That is just quick and dirty until I can figure a way to keep points from getting out of hand there. Have you tried adding your toys from amazon (using TTadd, or getting the ASIN of the toy from amazon)? That will use the price at amazon and possible give you more points for it, and it might have a picture of the item.
Hi Dan, Thank you for your response. Wow that was quick!
1- Awesome, pictures are worth a thousand words and you wouldn't even have to use the site to boggle down the site, even ebay lets you use an outsite host for pictures. So, most people can just have a thumbnail link, then when the item is sold, the trader can just delete the picture from there end. Or whatever you prefer, uploading the pictures is also a good and practical idea.
2- Thank you!
3- No worries, I think most of use would like the use of pre-paid, but I think the printing out the shipping labels is a fantastic idea too! A few minutes in the postal line, isn't going to hurt anyone.
4-I finally figured out the TTadd and how it works, but even the point scale is still low. Which I'm alittle surprised? I have some stuff posted on Amazon for example price value of $25.00, it shows up as a 2 points? Shouldn't it show up as something along the lines of 25 points or less of course. Actually, I'm finding that the custom value gives me more points than the TTadd. But, I'll keep trying.
4-(again), In response to GIP's answer. Its not a question of ripping someone off in fact, my stuff is NEW in package. I have mainly toys of recent that I wish to just trade. By all means I understand that your afraid people might take advantage, but you also have to understand I have toys, toy playsets, toy figures, toy vehicles AND MUCH MORE! I honestly don't have junk, it really is Excellent stuff. I wouldn't mind trading, but I feel I would be more inclined to trade if the point value system was slightly higher. But, I can understand everyones concern.
Thank you and remember there just suggestions. jen
Part of the problem may be that your stuff is too nice! The prices are for used items, which are typically no more than half the price of the new item. The prices here do not take into account condition, and assume that the items are not new. So the default price for a gently used toy will be too low for your new stuff. For now, anyway, you can offer them in the forums and sell them that way. Also, people will list things as "custom" and finagle the points be offering a single item as "Toy, part 1", and "Toy, part 2", and the description says you have to order both. Then you can get 6 points. Obviously, not ideal for your purposes, but it is a reasonable workaround.
But in general, it comes down to--there are benefits to having the seller determine the price and benefits to having a set price. I am lucky enough that the TT standard policies suit me to a T. You may have to go along to get along, but I hope you will find it rewarding enough to trade frequently. We can always use good new traders.
You CAN use the Paypal shipping to ship TT packages...I do it with all my TT items. If you have a Paypal account, just log into this link: Ship Any Package thru Paypal
Thanks GIP. I know, most of the stuff is new, but even though my stuff is new, I'm still open to trading with anyone who wants my stuff. I have actually been taking some advice from the more experienced traders on titletrader and actually one of the suggestions is what you already mentioned above. Thanks for your help.
To Our Obsessions, DUDE, you saved my day! I didn't realize we could do that! I have been trying to find out if we could print labels other than whats imported to ebay. I see you have the link, but can I ask once we log-in, do you know what steps to take in order to draw up a blank shipping label with fill in the blanks. I guess what I mean is if I just regularly log-in, where do you go from there to get to the link you provided. thanks, jen
I've never tried it that way. I'm not sure their even IS a link in there somewhere. When you click on my link, you'll log in, and then you will go right to a page where you fill in all the info, and choose the method of mailing you prefer. This link is freely shared in all my yahoo groups. just email Paypal and ask them if this is the correct link, if you don't trust my link. But lots of people use it, I'm not a scammer. really. I'm just an old woman in Iowa that sells books online, and reads a good deal of them as well. And Kayla keeps me well supplied with movies
TO OUR OBSESSIONS, My apoligizes, I didn't mean to indirectly or directly say that you were trying to scam me. I simply ask if you knew where the link was on the paypal account, because I tend to overlook some features on paypal that I'm just starting learn and use myself, even though I have been member for years. But, your link will come in handy. Thank you for the suggestion, and sorry for any misconceptions on my part. jen
Jenstad, I'm sure no one will fault you for being curious or even cautious.
When given a link to a secure site, I always sign on directly myself, then after clicking the link, if it is the real thing I will still be in my acct.
If it takes me to another page asking me to sign in, I know I've been misdirected.
On that note: tiny unrelated rant: There has been about 5 emails with buyer questions that appear to come from Ebay just this week, it has become tiresome. Don't they ever give up?
iwould like to know if there is a ignore button we can press on the traders we dont want to deal with?if not can we get one put on.there is some traders i have bad experience with so i dont want to deal with them anymore.i thought a ignore button would be great.the opposite of the buddy list.mary
