I don't mean to sound disloyal to TitleTrader (I've been a memeber for well over a year and have traded hundreds of books), but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a newer group where the members haven't gone so, well, "commercial" yet -- you know, a group of people who just like swapping books and stuff. Maybe someplace with a more active forum (like TT used to be).

Maybe I'm just hard to please but TT isn't that much fun any more ... PBS is just too big (although it has the best selection of books). I never did 'take' to FrugalReader or Bookmooch.

Any others you can think of?

I saw two or three but didn't register because they were new and therefore pretty empty. Unfortunately I don't remember their names otherwise I'd tell you. :-(

But I know what you mean. My first thought and initial answer to your question was Paperbackswap but I agree, it is good to get your wishlisted books but the forums are a bit strange.
It seems all there is lingering are hypocrite mothers with too much time on their hands, juggling from one extreme into the other.

In case I stumble over tose swapsites again I'll let you know. :-)

If you're looking for more fun and less trade, I think you might like Bookcrossing. I have a pen pal who does it. You leave books places and track them, then can go after ones in your town. Of course, there isn't a guarantee that you'll get what you put into it. I think it's more of a game than for people who really want books.

My inventory is REALLY REALLY FUN too! No, just kidding. http://www.titletrader.com/wl.php?userid=1003072&show=inventory

2swap.com is one.

They're very new so not many members or big inventory. Lots of swapping, though. I haven't seen any drama, there.

I post (and search for) newer books on Bookins.com. It tends to have more in-demand books that are rarely found on sites like TT, bookmooch, or Womb. (there is more of an incentive to post newer items on Bookins because of their point system)

The site charges a couple bucks per transaction , but it's worth it on newer releases.

However, the service fee is a waste for flea market items like Harlequinn Romance,
children's lit, or out-dated items. I'd stick with TT and bookmooch for those products (more economical).

PBS is my favorite, unfortunately their wishlists move extremely slow on most non-fiction items.

I think the lack of drama is what keeps tt forums slow. people thrive on it these days. I was told off on a gardening forum this week because aparently my etsy page has some grammer issues. grammer..... Ok I can see whear i am selling a product that may be important. But worth going off on someone??? I have deslexia. I try but dont always sucseed. And on the forums I dont try too hard. im just here to relax not stress over my spelling and grammer.

Sleepy I agree that is exactly what I thought of the two people giveing me a hard time. they seemed like a couple of house wives with nothing better to do but give someone a hard time. worst part is I couldent tell them that because the subject was my business. Frowner

So maybe we should cook up our own drama. LOL!!

Don't mind sleepy, she's just perpetually upset because I rebuke her advances.

By the by, my angiosperm thinks that your gymnosperm is merely a shrub. Pfffft.

I agree, most of the websites don't have the history or other social science titles I like.

PBS is my favorite, unfortunately their wishlists move extremely slow on most non-fiction items.[/QUOTE]

I joined SwapTree, a friend of mine recommended it.

They seem to have a really good selection. A ton of my stuff was wishlisted, so I hit my "newbie" 5-trade limit right away. Can't wait til people leave feedback, cuz there's more stuff I want.

Also, it allows you to import list from another website, so it is really easy to xfer you TT inventory over.
