I like TT to be a free and easy site where everyone can trade everything, like condoms, HAHA!
I wouln't mind having an adults' only filter that could be enabled or disabled so that traders could comfortably let their kids browse the site.
But honestly, why post this at all? Is there a problem?

From the "Member Agreement" tab at the bottom of the TT page: Legal Compliance: The User shall comply with all applicable domestic and international laws, statutes, ordinances and regulations regarding the use of Titletrader Services and your listing, requesting. The User must also be 18 years or older to participate in TitleTrader. According to this, TT members must be 18 to participate so they are of legal age to obtain porn. But, um, used porn is pretty gross.

You're right RxR. I see this post as unnecessary because Dan and Maggie already thought this through when the site was set up.
We had this discussion over in the SUPPORT forum under listing different things on TT. But, perhaps Mallon never read that thread.
In any case, if someone is unhappy with certain listings they can either email the lister, or email Dan their complaints.

I really do not appreciate the twisting of my response into fodder for this junior high love squabble. In the amount of time it took to create this poll, you could have simply researched the member agreement or faq yourself (it took me about a minute to find the age requirement). I understand that both sides are upset. But in the scheme of things, all of this bickering is not doing a bit of good other than driving people away from TT.

I'm not bickering. I refuse to.
But I do happen to have feelings about this poll. I think it's a bad idea for all the wrong reasons.
The smart thing would be to delete it.

Sorry rXrCDs that you did not like my responce. If there's one think I do know its that I do not know everything (apologies to Socrates).I was not twisting your responce. I was using the information that you provided. Sorry to offend you-next time I'll just copy the info without quoting you. I did not know about the age requirement.I did log out and log back into see the sign up page for new members and saw no information about age. Either way the poll is still valid even if age doesn't play into it.I tried to include age into the poll results by creating a 3rd catagory so if there was anyone who wanted to say yes but was not sure becase we all know with DVD's,CD's and books that there are people younger than 18 using this site. It is a simple question , the question is not if they are allowed,it is Do you think that X-rated items should be allowed to be traded on this site?

I voted for Yes. The simple reason is: Even if here are underage persons it´s not my responsibility to watch over them. It´s their parents responsibility. It´s as simple as this. Today it doesn´t make much difference if somebody who´s 16 watches a movie like this or somebobdy who´s 18.

Mallon Said: I tried to include age into the poll results by creating a 3rd catagory. To me, it looked as though you were accusing TT of doing something illegal. Which of course, it is not.
Sleepy, you are right that internet sites can not police kids. Parents can however, set a filter to objectionable material (or so I'm told). You are the web person, not me.

I think that they should be allowed, because I like the freedom of the site. And I think that noone should list them, because as rxr says, used porn is gross. New porn is kind of gross, too, kind of crude, y'know? I can just do without stumbling over it in the listings. No biggie, though. As with everything, including junior high love squabbles , I can just pass it by. And in my experience, listings for such items are quite rare--I have looked at every book listing and every DVD listing on the site, and can count on one hand (maybe two hands) the number of XXX items.

I don't really think traders should post stuff like that. Like many people before me have mentioned, it's somewhat gross. I can understand TT respecting the traders' freedom to post anything they want, but I really think a filter is in order. Parents have the responsibilty to watch over their kids, but they can't keep their eyes out 24/7. Just thought I'd mention how I feel

Nothing wrong with the post / question. Mallon is just looking for some oppinions on posting XXX items. Participate or not... your choice... move on. IMHO, should TT allow it's posting? Don't see why not. I could take it or leave it, but I'd hate to see the site limit the freedom to sell or buy anything. One of the best features about the site is the varity of what's being offered! :-) Being a father of 5, I can say I'd rather not have my kids stumble accross it if we can easily avoid it and no need to offend anyone if they don't care to see it. An easy solution is to create a category specifically for it. Then people can still buy / sell thier items (there's still a need). People can avoid it all together just by not going to that category if they don't want to see it. I don't think there needs to be any more protection on that listing either (it's still up to the parents to raise thier children the way they see fit) seeing as TT's members should be 18 as noted already. Everyone gets what they want / need and TT is once again a happy place we can all continue to enjoy. Just my two cents. DM
