are we allowed to hold raffles or auctions on popular books here? I sent a note to customer service, but haven't heard back yet.

I say to each there own but it dosent seem verry fair. Just trying to get as many points as posable out of traders. Why not just do a custome listing for what you want out of it. If traders are willing to do these I dont see why you couldent but I dont think it will go over well.

I was just wondering because I've seen it done on other sites. I don't know anything about the custom listing option you mentioned. I'll have to check it out.

We've had many raffles here in the past...

Do a forum search, and you should be able to find some...

If wendel says its been done I would say go for it. Like I said befor if traders will do it why not. I would be curious to see how you do one. just hope you dont get any flack. I always see a lot of guff about trying to get extra points from an item. My self i see it as if the requester is willing then its there business. Smiler

Hi Susan - Windel is right about the raffles - it was at least a year ago, maybe closer to two. But I don't think we ever had the type you're asking about - for just one book. The ones I entered were for complete DVD sets (seasons and/or series), Borders & Barnes & Noble gift cards, and especially Brandijolove's diamond ring! Smiler And I never did win! Frowner Plus a lot of other items I can't remember. We also had an on-line Bingo game one night with prizes. Things were VERY different then - plus there were many more traders in the Forums with a huge number of points to spread around. There were also groups that did bookmark swaps, Christmas gift exchanges, etc. OK Susan - way more information than you asked for. Big Grin

Edited to add: I don't see a raffle as unfair to anyone - it's strictly voluntary. The only thought I have would be the prize(s) - people might not want to waste a point unless it's something of real interest to everyone.

thanks for the info. yeah, I wondered about some of the other things you mentioned, too. Like does anyone ever host an elephant swap or do any games that actually involve swapping books? I wasn't trying to be greedy about thinking about an auction. Sometimes you just end up spending a lot of time or money on tracking down a hard to find book and maybe don't want to pass it on for 1 or 2 credits. The other thing is, it's fun to get involved in somethings that involve other people. And if you ever do win a contest or something, it is super fun!
