I just signed up with bookmooch and swapped pts here. I go there to order my books and it only lets me order one. Won't let me use my other pts because I haven't "swapped" my ratio. Oh why do they do this?!! Can anyone help me out. I don't plan to become a full member there, was just hoping to get some much needed books, but now I can't. My pts would be better spent here it seems.

I'll post the 2 pts in my inventory and let me know your Bookmooch name and I'll send your points.

I tend to try out new places because you never know who will have the book you want. I just assumed I would be able to use my points all up. I hope they change one day. I guess they do that so that people get to trading and make their site active..

I forget what the actual ratio they allow is, I believe it was 5: 1 when I joined, but no matter what it is set to now, I do know you can take more than you send, up to a certain point before they don't let you use anymore of your points.

right now I'm at .6 rec'd : every book I've sent.
I can request pretty freely but judging from the number of points I have, 40 I think it shows that high because I have been receiving 3pts for every canadian order I've mailed and haven't requested as many at 2pts each.

Since it doesn't look like I'll trade them, I'd like to just give 2 to you. Maybe you know someone who needs them on the site or maybe you'd like to use them. PM me your BM name and I'll send them over. It's my good deed for the day Smiler

Kajun, don't give up on Bookmooch yet.

It's a great site, I do about half my trading on there. It's just like any site when you first start out, it takes awhile to get requests and build up a trading history.

The ratio is now set at 2:1, to prevent people just listing books and thus accumulating points. They then use them to request items and then never send anything out. It was happening a lot, so that's why they lowered the ratio. It does make it tough when you're first starting out but it just keeps people honest. (Not that that's a problem with you!).

I hope you give it a bit longer, it really is a great site.

Yes the more trades the least affected you are when it comes to the ratios.
